Mount Pleasant Waterworks to Participate In Largest One-Day Volunteer Clean Up Event
Mount Pleasant, SC –August 28, 2013-- Beach Sweep / River Sweep organized by S.C. Sea Grant Consortium in partnership with Mount Pleasant Waterworks is the largest one-day litter cleanup of South Carolina's beaches and rivers. On Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. thousands of South Carolinians will volunteer to clear trash from our beaches, rivers, and marshes.
South Carolina has participated in this Annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep since 1988. Mount Pleasant Waterworks invites you to participate. Anyone can help; including businesses, civic clubs, recreation clubs, individuals, families, school groups, church groups, and youth groups. There will be a tent set up in front of Sawyer’s Landing Condominiums on the Mount Pleasant side of the Ben Sawyer Causeway. The clean-up will reach from Mount Pleasant to Sullivan’s Island. For a full list of Beach Sweep/River Sweep locations please visit http://www.scseagrant.org.
Mount Pleasant Waterworks will provide rubber gloves, trash bags, and cold water to drink for volunteers at the Ben Sawyer location. If you have questions please contact Dionna Ebeling at 843.375.5462.
“This is a great opportunity for our community to take part in keeping our state’s waterways clean and beautiful,” said Dionna Ebeling, Mount Pleasant Waterworks’ Communications Coordinator.
