Mount Pleasant Waterworks’ Chairman Rick Crosby Receives Public Officials Certification
Mount Pleasant, S.C. - - August 8, 2014 - - It’s critical that public officials understand utility operations and finance to help make informed decisions. For that reason, the American Water Works Associations offers public officials the opportunity to participate in a three day certification program. The program is designed to help elected or public officials better understand key water issues and take smart steps to address them.
During the 2014 America Water Works Annual Conference, Mount Pleasant Waterworks’ Chairman Rick Crosby completed the three day certification. “Our Commissioners have always been active on the local and national level and strive to stay up-to-date with our ever changing industry,” said General Manager Clay Duffie. The certification program includes three specialized courses covering the basics of water treatment and distribution, governance, finance, and asset management.
“Mount Pleasant Waterworks has some of the most talented employees you will find in our industry. They do an excellent job operating and maintaining our water and wastewater systems. As Commissioners, it is extremely important that we do our best to understand the operations, regulations, financing, and maintenance it takes for the employees to provide clean safe water to our community. We were elected by the citizens to protect the most valuable resource they receive --- clean safe water. It is for that reason that I take time to continue to learn about our ever changing industry. Through this certification, I acquired a renewed ability to confidently discuss the workings of our industry and make informed and educated decisions,” said Chairman Rick Crosby.
