Mount Pleasant Waterworks Announces Drinking Water Week Local Art Contest Winners

May 17, 2021

Mount Pleasant, SC –Mount Pleasant Waterworks and partners throughout North America last week celebrated Drinking Water Week, by highlighting the different ways consumers’ tap water is “There When You Need It.”

MPW observed Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to and from homes and businesses, and the critical work that water professionals accomplish around the clock. This year we reached out to local elementary, middle, and high school art classes to help us celebrate by creatively sharing their thoughts on this year’s theme through an art contest. Entries are on display now along the entrance to Mount Pleasant Waterworks at 1619 Rifle Range Road.

The winners are as follows:

1st Place – Whitesides Elementary/ Mrs. Riggs' class

2nd Place - Whitesides Elementary/ Mrs. Goodall's class

1st Place – Cario Middle School/ Mrs. Brooks' class (Waves Team)

2nd Place – Moultrie Middle School/ Mr. Peterson's class (6th period)

High School:

1st Place – Wando Highschool/ Abigail Buchen

2nd Place – Wando Highschool/ Aaron Gillam

“Partnering with our local schools to draw awareness to the importance of water quality and the work water professionals do every day is an integral part of educating the public on the value of our water resources,” said MPW General Manager Clay Duffie.
